WIND SPIRIT
1/5 Life-Size Master Model for the Monumental
For centuries, the Utes lived isolated by preference in the rugged high country of the Rockies and were the respected rulers of the "shining mountains". They are the only Indian tribe native to Colorado. In the summer, the Utes followed the herds of elk, deer and buffalo into the beautiful pristine wilderness meadows. Gathering berries, plants and grasses, they followed the annual migration of the descending herds to winter in the southern river valleys.
